For many people using a manual wheelchair, pushing day after day can place significant strain on the shoulders, arms, and upper body. Over time, this strain can lead to pain, fatigue, and changes in function that affect independence and participation in daily life. Power assist devices are designed to support manual wheelchair riders by reducing the effort required to propel, while still maintaining the benefits of a manual wheelchair. The Power Assist Rider Checklist is designed to help you reflect on your daily experiences and identify whether power assist may be a helpful option to discuss with your healthcare provider.
