Switch-It's MicroGuide Named to 2017 Mobility Management Best Picks List
IRVINE, Calif. — The MicroGuide power wheelchair drive control by Switch-It has been named a 2017 Best Pick by Mobility Management magazine.
Each year since 2011, Mobility Management has asked clinicians and Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) specializing in seating & wheeled mobility to share their favorite complex rehab products. Their answers are published in Mobility Management's July issue.
Mobility Management Group Publisher Karen Cavallo said, "Once again, this year's Best Picks demonstrate complex rehab's continuing dedication to maximizing function and independence for people with mobility-related disabilities. We admire their efforts and look forward to their future innovations. Congratulations!"
"Best Picks are chosen by healthcare professionals who know the importance of design innovation, customizability, durability and aesthetics," said Editor Laurie Watanabe. "The complex rehab products they selected truly demonstrate how technology can make a difference for people with disabilities."
MicroGuide is a light-touch proportional power wheelchair drive control: The further the joystick is deflected, the faster the chair will go. MicroGuide gives its user the ability to operate a wheelchair with 360° of control as well as the full range of the wheelchair's drive parameters (speed, acceleration, etc.).
MicroGuide is ideal for clients who require the sensitivity of a light-touch drive control as well as the feedback of joystick displacement. MicroGuide works with many mounting options, the most popular being armrest and the Switch-It BDN harness for chin control. Many power wheelchair users will enjoy greater independence when using the MicroGuide.
MicroGuide works in a plug-and-play fashion and is compatible with most manufacturers' electronics. Included with every MicroGuide is a 1" breakaway knob, foam knob cover and mini cup knob cover. It can be ordered with a built-in mode "smart" jack, which allows for mechanical or electronic switches to plug into the jack.
In addition to appearing in the July issue, 2017 Best Pick winners appear in the online version of the story on MobilityMgmt.com.
