Sunrise Medical Announces Enhancements to the Quickie and Zippie IRIS Tilt-in-Space Wheelchairs

4/17/2017

FRESNO, Calif., April 17, 2017 — Today, Sunrise Medical is pleased to announce enhancements to the adult Quickie® and the pediatric Zippie® IRIS tilt-in-space wheelchair lines, improving on a trusted pioneer in the industry. IRIS is an acronym for Intelligent Rotation In Space. Created by Sunrise Medical and patented in 2007, Rotation-in-Space or Tilt-in-Space technology helps to facilitate respiratory function, feeding, pressure relief, and visual alignment for the wheelchair user. Already known for its quality and durability, the Quickie IRIS has now increased the weight capacity on the standard chair to 300 pounds and 400 pounds on the heavy duty option. Additionally, an option now available for the Quickie IRIS is the JAY lower extremity support, which utilizes the same latch mechanism as the hangers, making adjustments easier without the need of additional hardware.

"We are always extremely excited whenever we have the opportunity to enrich our already tried-and-true Quickie chairs, now even stronger," said Jesus Ibarra, Sunrise Medical Associate Product Manager. "We are focused on ensuring that our Quickie IRIS continues to deliver the best tilt-in-space chair in the market."

Further enhancements to the Quickie and Zippie IRIS include aesthetic modifications such as black tires and 5-spoke mag wheels. Improvements to the design of the seat pan allow for easier and quicker installation of positioning components.

Popular Built-4-Me® options such as the angle-adjustable push handles with recline and Z-finity footrest system are now offered as a standard option for both the Quickie and Zippie IRIS.
