Sunrise Medical Releases New Model of Quickie Xtender
Today, Sunrise Medical leaders announced a newly-designed Quickie® Xtender™ electric assist wheelchair accessory provided for a wide range of clients from pediatric to elderly. The new, safe and easy to use Quickie Xtender extends the range of mobility for manual wheelchair users by adding power assisted wheels to a manual frame. The Xtender increases travel distance and propulsion efficiency and reduces overall fatigue while maintaining the look, control, and functionality of a manual wheelchair.
The new Quickie Xtender's motorized rear wheels increase the force you apply to the handrims. This increases range of mobility, reduces energy expenditure and decreases fatigue. The Xtender provides excellent handrim grip for users with limited hand function. Research shows that the Xtender electric assist may help reduce or prevent secondary injuries to the wrists, elbows, and shoulders, including Repetitive Strain Injury.
"The new design of Quickie Xtender has been well-received," said Christy Clover, Sunrise Medical Associate Product Manager, Pediatrics. "The new design allows users to add power assistance to their wheelchair to travel that extra mile while reducing overall fatigue. The new design and functionality also appeals to wide range of our clients, now including the pediatric users."
The easy to use Quickie Xtender's electric assist wheelchair accessory offers quick-release wheels and quick-sling battery pack to allow you to easily transition between manual and assisted propulsion. The advanced lightweight battery can be easily removed and includes a microprocessor for increased performance with both nickel and lithium battery options. Bright LED lights alerts the user of the remaining battery power. The new product does not require programming, offers automatic wheel synchronization, downhill speed control and rollback assistance and is easy to transport and store. The axle plate adapter is easy to mount and offers more seat-to-floor height adjustment.
