Sunrise Medical Updates Innovating Seating System
FRESNO, Calif., August 15, 2016 — Today, Sunrise Medical announced an update to the JAY Fit wheelchair seating system. They JAY Fit is an advanced seat cushion and backrest combination providing heightened adjustability to accommodate complex and changing user needs, complimented with a user-friendly ordering system.
Responding to the medical mobility industry's demand for a "semi-custom" seating solution, the JAY Fit delivers an ideal option for those requiring more complex seating than typical off-the-shelf wheelchair cushions and backs provide. With its dove-tail track design and easily interchangeable seating options, the JAY Fit's built-in adjustability provides for growth and changing support needs over time.
Jeff Rogers, Sunrise Medical Senior Product Manager for Seating, said the JAY Fit is unique in the medical seating industry as an "in-between" product providing a semi-custom solution for wheelchair users.
"There are different products in the market with similar characteristics, but nothing that provides this degree of adjustability while also meeting complex positioning needs," said Rogers. "The JAY Fit will especially appeal to dealers and clinicians looking to provide a more affordable yet clinically-effective option than can be found in current off-the-shelf seating systems."
JAY Fit users will also benefit from the vast array of available JAY Positioning Support options and Whitmyer headrests, including swing-away lateral supports for greater ease of transfer in and out of the wheelchair. They JAY Fit's defining characteristic is a remarkable degree of adjustability with a width range of 10 to 18 inches, seat depth range of 8 to 20 inches and back height range of 10 to 22 inches. The total weight of the JAY Fit begins at just 5.5 lbs. and can accommodate users up to 250 lbs. The JAY Fit is universally compatible with all Quickie manual wheelchairs and most competing brands as well.
