Back to School Wheelchair Accessories & Technology Tips

Growing up in Virginia, Labor Day weekend was a time filled with mixed emotions, but thanks to the "Kings Dominion Law" the Tuesday after Labor Day marked the first day of school (Got to love Virginia's theme park-related legislation). I remember the thrill of finding the perfect Trapper Keeper® (Side note: this 80's classic is back!) while school supply shopping with my parents and the uneasy feeling on the first day as I walked in my classroom not sure of who would be assigned to sit next to me for the next nine months of school.

In honor of this exciting time of year, I decided this would be the perfect time to discuss a few wheelchair accessories and technology tips related to school.

Before I joined the Sunrise Medical team, I worked fulltime at a pediatric transitional care and rehabilitation hospital. Over the 12 years I worked there I not only honed my skills as a clinician, but I also met fantastic people. Recently, I met up with a former client named Mimi who taught me a great deal about internal drive and appreciating the little things in life.
